Reunion 2003

On August 2nd, 180 FHS alumni and guests gathered in the spacious, air conditioned commons area of Fayette High School. They dined on a delicious meal catered by Fresh Ideas food service of Central Methodist College. Gardell Powell (1965) gave the blessing.

After the meal Darryl Pannier, principal of FHS, presided at the brief program. Classes represented ranged from 1929 (Lillian Lusby Kirby) to 1988 (Chris Diehls). Those who came the greatest distances were from Florida, Georgia, South Dakota. Former faculty introduced were Betty Burns, Jake and Kitty Greiner, Dave Harris and Carol Allen Majors. A sizeable group of alumni who also are/were faculty were asked to stand and be recognized.

Also honored were the 12 class valedictorians/salutatorians who were present. They were presented with the attractive centerpieces of their class year. These centerpieces, designed and made by Joanne Brown Basye (1952)and her decoration committee, featured an arrangement of books and flowers in a black and gold motif. Also included were high school photos of each class year's valedictorian/salutatorian. A drawing was held to distribute the rest of the centerpieces. The program ended with the singing of the Alma Mater and The Fight Song, led by Rhonda Kreutzer Lane (1982) and Sarah Rogers Morrow (1967), plus a reminder to save the first weekend in 2004 for the 5th annual FHS reunion. During the weekend several classes had individual gatherings in addition to attending the reunion dinner together.  They were the classes of 1943, 1953, and 1963.
