Belated Report on the 2001 All Class Reunion

The second annual all class reunion of Fayette area schools, held on August 4th, once again saw many former classmates enjoying sharing school days' memories. They had many opportunities to do this: at the registration site in the community room of the Commercial Trust Company, which was open both Friday and Saturday and where school directories were available to buy; during the many Great Freeze Off activities which took place all day on the square; the get-together of the 30's and 40's on Saturday afternoon at Schnell; and at various individual class gatherings held throughout that weekend.

The largest gathering, and the 'Main Event' of the reunion, was the reunion dinner on Saturday evening. Approximately 230 attended, coming from 11 states outside of Missouri. Once again the tables were beautifully decorated by the decoration committee and their lovely black and gold flower baskets went to lucky winners of the drawing at the conclusion of the evening. The meal was nicely served by Fresh Ideas, a catering service used at Central Methodist College, and most agreed that it was an improvement over the meal of last year.

Chris Rohlfing, president of the 30 year class of 1971, was master of ceremonies. He led the group in a prayer with a moment of silence in memory of deceased classmates. After their introductions, brief comments were made by Superintendent Larry Leech and Central Methodist President Marianne Inman.

Faculty and school board members were also recognized. As had been requested, Rohlfing kept the pace 'short and sweet' and, after a few brief announcements, ended the program with the singing of the Alma Mater.

The most important announcement made was that the reunion weekend will continue to be held annually on the first weekend of August.
